What Does Christian Heaven Look Like? How Paradise Works
The Christian religion has a lot of different texts and world-building passages that tell us what its version of Heaven operates. Often it can be hard to follow if you’re not familiar with the faith.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t find out if you’re curious about it!
The concept of heaven in Christianity comes from many different parts of the Bible, and mainly is framed by the book of Revelation that was written by John, an apostle. But there are also descriptions of heaven that Jesus talks about through parables and conversations with people.
Let’s take a closer look at Christian Heaven to dig a little deeper.
People
One of the most famous quotes about heaven comes from Jesus himself when he is being crucified and says, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” So, Christians can assume that for people Heaven will be paradise.
That’s why in Christian heaven it is believed that people themselves will never go hungry and never be thirsty. It’s also assumed that people who are suffering from pain will be healed, like people with cancer or disease.
That’s the idea for people— dogs are a different story!
Angels
Now, the role of angels is a bit more complex. They’re definitely different from the idea of the 12 archangels that you might know about.
In the Bible, angels have been God’s messengers and interveners on many different occasions. They speak to people in order to warn them and to deliver messages, like the angel that brought the news to Mary that she would bear God’s Son, Jesus.
There’s some speculation over what angels look like as they are described differently throughout the Bible, sometimes having six wings or multiple eyes and coming with a lot of light. That’s why when they show up they often say “Do not be afraid.”
God
Finally, God in the Bible is generally separated from Man physically. There was a time where God was able to be in the company of humans, which was in the Garden of Eden.
But you don’t even need to be a devout Christian to understand why that’s not possible anymore. Because of that sin, Christians can’t be with God again on Earth.
That’s why heaven is such a big deal; Christian beliefs state that humans only can be in community with God physically again when they begin their second, eternal life after death. God can come to people in other ways, but if you want to walk with Him every day Adam and Eve style, you have to wait until you get to heaven.
Enlightened on Christian Heaven
And there you have it! A little more education on a few parts of Christian Heaven.
Hopefully, you’ve found it enlightening whether you’re a Christian or just interested in learning more about another religion. There are certainly more theological elements that play into heaven, so you’ve only gotten a taste!
