Top 5 Technologies to watch in 2022 – (#3 is…)

Similar To listing in Bitcoin Miners Hashrate Technology Section – Throughout history, mankind has accumulated a significant list of successfully implemented complex projects. From building the Pyramids of Giza and sending a man to the moon to developing mRNA vaccines. We have compiled a list of technologies and projects whose implementation is worth following in 2022.

For example, the creation of a metauniverse from Microsoft and Meta, the development of virtual reality and games, the development of new assistant robots, technologies based on artificial intelligence that will work in various fields, ranging from industry to culture.

The Economist published a vision for the development of technology in 2022. They’ve compiled a list of 22 emerging technologies to watch in 2022. We will tell you about most of them.

1. Solar geoengineering

_____________

In simple words, this is the management of solar radiation. The planet is heating up, so it needs to be cooled. Scientists from Harvard University hope to implement the Scopex experiment. They want to launch a balloon into the stratosphere and release 2 kilograms of calcium carbonate from it.

After that, they will observe how it dissipates and how it spreads solar energy in our atmosphere. This technology works like a volcanic eruption. Dust and ash ejected by volcanoes into the upper atmosphere have a cooling effect. For example, after the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, the Earth cooled by 0.5°C over the next four years.

Proponents of this project believe that this technology is needed to give the planet and people more time to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The project has been delayed for a long time, and an independent advisory group is considering the moral and political implications of this project.

2. Heat pumps

About a quarter of the world’s energy consumption goes to heating houses in winter. Coal, gas and oil are mostly used for this in the world. But such electricity production is not compatible with the international plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

However, there is an alternative to this, which scientists see in heat pumps. These pumps work like a refrigerator, but in reverse.

The heat pump pumps air from the outside and heats it, and the pump can also work for cooling. Since they circulate heat in the room, they consume less electricity: for every kilowatt of electricity consumed, they emit 3 kW of heat. One of the few companies that create such pumps already promises the start of pump sales in 2022.

3. An airplane with a hydrogen engine

In 2022, tests of two hydrogen-powered aircraft will begin. Next year they will try:

  • a two-seater airplane from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands;
  • A 20-seater ZeroAvia aircraft based in California. The developers also plan to prepare their hydrogen power system for certification by the end of the year;
  • The California-based Universal Hydrogen 40-seater will take off in September 2022.

4. Direct carbon capture

Technology that allows you to suck carbon dioxide CO2 from the air, which affects the acceleration of global warming. For example, in 2022, the Canadian firm Carbon Engineering will begin construction of the world’s largest DAC in Texas, capable of capturing 1 million tons of CO2 per year.

The Swiss firm ClimeWorks opened a plant in Iceland in 2021 that stores CO2 in mineral form at a rate of 4,000 tons per year.

5. The revolution of home robots

The Guardian does not promise that the uprising of home robots will take place in 2022. However, it is assumed that the entry into the market of the home assistant Amazon Astro will set a trend that will be picked up by other manufacturers.

If previously such devices were single-functional – for example, a robot vacuum cleaner, then Astro will be the first general-purpose home robot at a price of about $1,000, which implies their mass production. Such an assistant will remind you about the iron that is not turned off and the hungry pet, make a shopping list and order the necessary things from the store.

He knows how to recognize faces and wander around the house like a watchdog, looking for those who shouldn’t be there. Such a robot can become a good companion for an elderly person – it can measure blood pressure, and pulse and monitor other health indicators. Astro has a personality of his own, so he can evoke emotions, maintain intelligent dialogue, or simply entertain you.

Bonus: Generative intelligence in the field of sales

Gartner experts suggest that very soon in product advertising we will see not real models, but those generated by artificial intelligence. This will allow marketers to create personalized ads for different audiences. Based on your preferences, they will push you an artificially created image that will better help sell the product.

However, the capabilities of artificial intelligence will benefit not only sellers, but also ordinary fashionistas. Soon, technology will learn to recognize what celebrities or bloggers are wearing, and collect similar sets of clothes from more budget-friendly products based on a photo.
